(Tampa) — At first I couldn’t believe it.
Around 8:15pm Tuesday night a television camera man I know here in Tampa at the RNC convention arena said there had been an “ugly” and “despicable incident” involving potential delegates at the Republican convention heckling a camera operator working for CNN on or near the floor.
Shuster’s convention notebook: A bad start for USA Today
One of the things I usually love about traveling during an election campaign is the daily hotel room delivery of USA Today. The paper provides the latest political headlines and offers a window into the campaign information most Americans are receiving.
Unfortunately, USA Today has also come to represent a classic and frustrating media failure. The paper, like many others, reports competing arguments from the political campaigns — and avoids reporting which argument is accurate or truthful.
The most dangerous parts of the GOP’s 2012 platform
If you’ve been raped and are trying to terminate your resulting unwanted pregnancy, you aren’t going to find any support or sympathy in the Republican Party platform of 2012.
Likewise, if you are a woman and want to serve our nation in the military, or if you want to visit your same-sex partner in the hospital, or if you feel our government shouldn’t build an 800-mile-long border fence that independent experts say would “waste money,” the GOP 2012 platform is not pleasing.
